Initial commit
In the beginning, it was enough to make sure that payments always worked and that you could never double-book time slots. There were a couple of rounds with things I hadn’t thought of.
From being a simple system for a single location, it was a short step to offering the same to others with dog halls. I’m lucky enough to live just a few kilometres from four different dog halls and three different outdoor areas for dogs. It was therefore easy to be close at hand when JaRos Hundehall became the second customer. JaRos, with Janniche Rynning at the helm, was also an important contributor to making the system better adapted to what you need in a typical dog hall.
Then I got requests from two different dog parks asking if they could also use the system. New customers mean new requirements, new features and not least — it was no longer just a system for dog halls. Hundehall needed a new and more inclusive name.
From Nynorsk, Danish and Old Norse. A variant of “valp” (puppy) that also works in English (whelp) became Velpr. Simple as that. The name reflects that the system is for dog activities in general.
It’s the customers who decide what to prioritise and what to facilitate.
I hope at least that Velpr can be a system that makes it easier to organise dog activities.
That’s what it’s all about!
